» Property type: 5/6 bedroom house on Brighton seafront.
» This whole house on Brighton seafront was definitely on the shabby side of chic when it was acquired for clients. We started off by stripping out the second kitchen in the self-contained flat and then reinstating the staircase to the main house. Comprehensive and highly technical electrical cabling and fittings were installed throughout the house and the whole building was made water-tight by overhauling the roof. The interior was then redecorated, floors sanded, kitchens upgraded and carpet laid, before all external joinery and masonry was repaired and repainted.

» Property type: 1 bedroom flat.
» This small and cramped 1 bed flat was bought privately. The ceilings were removed and new steel supports installed to create a sleeping platform running from front to back, making the best use of the shallow pitch of the roof. The 2 small rooms below were knocked into one large room, which when combined with the new ceiling height, and white paint, created a good feeling of space. Plastered walls were varnished in the bathroom and a mix of Victorian and contemporary finishes applied throughout the rest of the flat, creating a unique and spacious studio.

» Property type: 2 bedroom house.
» This conventional 2 bed house was converted into a contemporary open space with two large bedrooms, one with en-suite. Plans were drawn up for the roof space to be extended to the rear, with a void left in the front, so that a galleried kitchen could be installed overlooking a first floor living room. The client supplied bathroom and shower suites with the kitchen being hand made and spray painted to keep costs down. Most of the walls were stripped back to the original brickwork and painted white, and the floors covered in lacquered marine ply, fixed down with countersunk chrome flat head screws. An inexpensive but effective finish was the result.

» Property type: 1 bedroom flat.
» This client's home started life as a classroom in a Victorian school, sold in shell form by a local developer. Careful negotiation took place over a period of time while various complicated legal problems were resolved and planning permission granted. A schedule of works was carried out which included; sandblasting the walls, constructing a mezzanine structure for 2 bedrooms, fitting a new designer kitchen and installing a new bathroom. The basic ingredients consisted of wood, metal and glass with many design ideas taken from art galleries and restaurants.

» Property type: 3 bedroom house.
» This 3 bed Edwardian house was in a pretty poor state of repair when it was bought, but already had planning permission in place to be converted to 2 x 1 bed flats and 1 x 2 bed maisonette. The plans were amended to create a 2 bed out of one of the 1 bed flats and a comprehensive program of works was undertaken, including major restructuring of the roof to prevent water ingress. A basic finish was applied before tenants moved in. The individual flats were refinanced before the client moved on to the next project.

» Property type: flat in prestigious block.
» This unusual house comprised a freehold coach house with attached annexe that was being used as a private bar and games room. The property was rented out whilst various legal issues were negotiated and a planning consent was sought to subdivide the main house into 2 x 2 bed flats and the annexe into a large 1 bed loft style apartment. Work commenced approximately 1 year later and major alterations to the façade and interior took place. A spectacular high quality finish was the end result including floor to ceiling bi fold doors, kitchens with illuminating work surfaces and solid bamboo floors.

» Property type: Large coach house.
» The client bought this unmodernised warehouse with the intention of moving in and using the premises as their office. They were aware that there was some potential to develop the property and having looked into the possible options decided to redevelop the site and sell it on. Planning was sought for 3 x small live/work units and 1 slightly larger one. Having had their first application refused the client persevered and eventually consent was granted. A firm of local architects amended the scheme and the conversion and building works went ahead, with the end result being 4 highly sought after small but affordable properties
